Liturgy of the Word

First Reading

A Reading from the Book of Ecclesiastics:

Two can accomplish more than one, for a result can be much better. If one fails, the other pulls them up. But if you fail when you are alone, you are in trouble. Also two gain warmth from each other. For how can you be warm alone? And one standing alone can be attacked and defeated but two can stand side by side and conquer.

This is the Word of the Lord.

All: Thanks be to God.

Responsorial Psalm

Music: You Are Mine

Second Reading

A Reading from the Book of Sirah

A loving partner is a safe shelter, whoever finds one has found a rare treasure. A loving partner is something beyond price, there is no measuring their worth. A loving partner is a life saving remedy, and those who respect the Lord will find true life, For as a person is, so is their loved one.

This is the Word of the Lord

All: Thanks be to God

Gospel Acclamation

Music : Alleluia

Father: The Lord be with you.

All:      And with your spirit.

Father: A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to John.

All:      Glory to you, O Lord.

Father: Jesus said to his disciples;

As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; remain in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my father’s commandments and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my own joy may be in you and your joy may be complete. This is my commandment: ‘Love one another, as I have loved you’.

The Gospel of the Lord.

All: Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

Rite of Marriage

Father  ____ addresses (Bride) and (Groom)

Father  :  (Bride) and (Groom), you have come to this church so that the Lord may seal your love in the presence of the priest and this community. Christ blesses this love. He has already consecrated you in baptism; also by a special sacrament, he strengthens you to fulfil the duties of your married life.

(Bride) and (Groom), you are about to celebrate this sacrament. Have you come here of your own free will and choice to marry each other?

Both:    We have.

Father : Will you love and honour each other in marriage all the days of your life?

Both:    We will.

Father  : Are you willing to accept with love the children God may send you and bring them up in accordance with the law of Christ and His Church?

Both :   We are.

Father ____ : I invite you then to declare before God and his Church your consent to become husband and wife.

(Groom) : (Bride), do you consent to be my wife?

(Bride) : I do.

(Bride) : (Groom), do you consent to be my husband?

(Groom) : I do.

(Bride) and (Groom) join hands and say:

(Groom) : I, _____, take you, _____, as my wife, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, all the days of our life.

(Bride) : I, _____, take you, _____, as my husband, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, all the days of our life.

Father: What God joins together man must not separate. May the Lord confirm the consent that you have given and enrich you with His blessings.

Help us to grow in our love through the example of your everlasting love. May we share with each other our good times and bad. May we grow old together with our families and friends. Amen

Prayers of the Faithful

Father: Now that (Bride) and (Groom) have given themselves to each other in Christian marriage, let us ask God our Father to keep them and all married couples faithful to him and united in themselves.

First Reader: For (Bride) and (Groom), may God watch over them at every moment and grant them the rich blessing of health and happiness. May their love grow stronger each new day and may their home be filled with love and peace. Lord hear us.

All: Lord graciously hear us.

Fifth Reader: We pray for peace in our country and throughout the world. May God’s love bring peace, unity and love. Lord hear us.

All: Lord graciously hear us.

Father: God Our Father, grant us in all our tasks your help, in all our doubts your guidance, in all our weaknesses your strength, in all our sorrows your comfort and in all our dangers your protection. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Liturgy of the Eucharist

Offertory Procession

Gifts of Bread and Wine: Names of people bringing the gifts.

Music: Ave Maria

Prayer over the Gifts

Father: Pray, brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God, the Almighty Father.

All: May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of His Name, for our good and the good of all His Holy Church.

Father: Lord, accept these gifts we offer you on this happy day. In your fatherly love, watch over and protect (Bride) and (Groom) whom you have united in marriage. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

All: Amen.

The Eucharistic Prayer

Father: The Lord be with you.

All:      And with your spirit.

Father: Lift up your hearts.

All:      We lift them up to the Lord.

Father: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

All:     It is right and just.

Father:  Father, all powerful and everliving God, we do well always and everywhere to give you thanks. By this sacrament your grace unites man and woman in an unbreakable bond of love and peace. You have designed the chaste love of husband and wife for the increase both of the human family and of your own family born in baptism. You are the loving Father of the world of nature; you are the loving Father of the new creation of grace. In Christian marriage you bring together the two orders of creation; nature’s gift of children enriches the world and your grace enriches also your church. Through Christ the choirs of angels and all the saints praise and worship your glory. May our voices blend with theirs as we join in their unending hymn of praise.

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts.
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord,
Hosanna in the highest.

Music :(option to sing or say this)

Father: Father, you are holy indeed and all creation gives you right and praise. All life, all holiness comes from you through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord by the working of the Holy Spirit. From age to age you gather a people to yourself, so that from east to west a perfect offering may be made to the glory of your name.

And so, Father we bring these gifts to you. We ask you to bless them and make them holy by the power of your spirit, that they may become the body and blood of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, at whose command we celebrate the Eucharist.

On the night he was betrayed he took bread and gave you thanks and praise. He broke the bread, gave it to his disciples and said: Take this, all of you and eat it: This is the body which will be given up for you.

When supper was ended, he took the cup. Again he gave you thanks and praise, gave the cup to his disciples and said: Take this, all of you and drink from it, this is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant, it will be shed for you and for all so that sins may be forgiven. Do this in memory of me.

Father:  The mystery of faith.

All: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.

When we eat this Bread and drink this Cup, we proclaim your Death, O Lord, until you come again.

(Option to sing)

Father: In memory of his death and resurrection, we offer you, Father, this life-giving bread, this saving cup. We thank you for counting us worthy to stand in your presence and serve you. May all of us who share in the body and blood of Christ be brought together in unity by the Holy Spirit.

Lord, remember your Church throughout the world; make us  grow in love, together with Benedict our Pope, ____ our Bishop, and all the Clergy. Remember also, Lord, (Bride) and (Groom), whom you have brought to their wedding day, that, by your grace, may they always live in mutual love and peace. Remember our brothers and sisters who have gone to their rest in the hope of rising again; bring them and all the departed into the light of your presence. Have mercy on us all; make us worthy to share eternal life with Mary, the virgin mother of God, with the apostles, and with all the saints who have done your will throughout the ages. May we praise you in union with them, and give you glory through your Son, Jesus Christ.

Through him, with him, in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honour is yours, Almighty Father, forever and ever.

All: Amen.  (Option to sing)

Communion Rite

Father: Let us pray with confidence to the Father in the words our Saviour gave us:

Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil.

All: Amen

Nuptial Blessing

Father: (Bride) and (Groom) are today united in the sacrament of marriage. Guide and protect them as they begin their married life together. May they find happiness in their love for each other and enrich the life of the church. May they praise you in their days of happiness and turn to you in times of sorrow. May they know the joy of your help in their work and the strength of your presence in their need. May they worship you with the church and be your witness in the world. May they see long and happy days and be united in the kingdom of your glory. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

All: Amen.

Rite of Peace

Father: The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.

All: And with your spirit.

Father: Let us offer each other the sign of peace.

Music: Dona Nobis

Father: Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world;

Lord have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world;
Lord have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world:
Grant us peace.

Father: Behold the Lamb of God,
Behold him who takes away the sins of the world.
Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.

All: Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

Pachebel’s Canon

Communion Reflection (Optional)

The Key to Love (An on)

The key to love is understanding……  The ability to comprehend, not only the spoken word, But those unspoken gestures, The little things that say so much by themselves.

The key to love is forgiveness……  To accept each other’s faults and pardon mistakes, without forgetting, But with remembering what you learned from them.

The key to love is sharing……  Facing your good fortunes as well as the bad, together;  Both conquering problems, forever searching for ways to intensify your happiness.

The key to love is giving……  Without thought of return, but with the hope of a simple smile, And by giving in but never giving up.

The key to love is respect……  Realising that you are two separate people, with different ideas; That you don’t belong to each other, that you belong with each other, and share a mutual bond.

The key to love is inside us all……  It takes time and patience to unlock all the ingredients that will take you to its threshold; It is the continual process that demands a lot of work…. But the rewards are more than worth the effort…. And that is the key to love.

(Music in the background, Optional)

Prayer after Communion

Father: Lord, we have shared the food of your table, pray for our friends (Bride) and (Groom), whom you have joined together in marriage. Keep them close to you always. May their love for each other proclaim to all the world their faith in you. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

All: Amen

Concluding Rite

Father: The Lord be with you.

All:       And with your spirit.

Father: May God, the Almighty Father, grant you his joy: may he bless you as his children.

All:      Amen.

Father: May you have children to bless you, friends to console you, and may you live in peace with all men.

All:    Amen.

Father: May Jesus Christ, the Son of God, in his mercy help you in good times and in bad.

All:     Amen.

Father: May Almighty God bless you all, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

All:     Amen.

Father: Go in peace to love and serve the Lord.

All:     Thanks be to God.
